Why you should watch Rick and Morty!

Wubba lubba dub dub Rick and Morty Fans!

Here's a post a lot of non Squanchers have been waiting for!

It's time to explain why Rick and Morty is such an amazing show, but first the basics need to be covered. The 30 minute episodes are based on a flurry of funny, clever and memorable adventures embarked upon by the alcoholic genius Rick and his ill-starred grandson Morty. They're relationship is composed of Rick using the impressionable Morty to go on adventures with him, Back to the Future style, however instead of a DeLorean to travel back in time, Rick uses a portal gun to create portals into alternate universes and timelines.

The characters in Rick and Morty are numerous and fascinating. Aside from the secondary characters of Summer, Beth and Jerry, the show features hundreds of little characters that are in themselves ridiculously interesting enough to justify watching.

This show doesn't take itself seriously, constantly breaking the fourth wall and changing the rules on the fly, making for a fast paced, yet consistent, narrative that keeps you thinking "wow that's cool" or "wait... what?" in the best of ways! Furthermore Rick and Morty is filled with little bits of philosophical and science humour that are at times so subtle that when you pick up on them, make you feel real smart. Essentially this show doesn't dumb everything down for you and utilises improvised and clever humour to really make you cherish those 30 minute episodes.

This show presents philosophical as well as psychological questions in a relaxed and easy to dissect manner. One of the great thing about the show is that it's very conscious of relatable social relationships and deals with their problems and issues in a light hearted manner, while also commenting on society as a whole. It does this openly and without shame, almost blunt and to the point which is very refreshing given how most shows deal with these issue by tiptoeing around them.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know why you think people should be watching Rick and Morty!

Squanch you next time Squanchers!
